What is the Bitcoin Halving Party?
The Bitcoin Halving Party is the first ever organized worldwide party for the Bitcoin Halving. Put on by the same group who brought you the Laser Eyes, the Meme Factory. The whole idea of the party is that back in 2020 there was no halving party, and we thought that bitcoin deserves a bigger celebration-especially something so fundamental to bitcoin as the halving which only happens once every four years.
Look, everyone has heard of bitcoin by now and they have all made up their minds as to what it is. Ask them one question further, “But what do you think of the halving?” You get radio silence. It’s obvious that for people to truly think bitcoin is more than just trading, more than just Robinhood, more than just a get rich quick scheme, they must understand the halving and its effects. Bitcoin is sound money and the halving demonstrates not only the predictability of the issuance of bitcoin, but also its scarcity.
It became more clear that the halving party should happen in El Salvador after they deemed bitcoin legal tender. A trip to El Salvador has become the ultimate pilgrimage for any Bitcoiner and many still have not made it there yet. Most simply haven’t found a reason compelling enough to go, so we decided to host the Bitcoin Halving Party in El Salvador in order to give Bitcoiners the opportunity to make a trip there with all of the other plebs.
The goal of the party is to celebrate bitcoin for what it is and not its price or something random. The halving is bitcoin. We want Bitcoiners, not shitcoiners, to come from all over the world to visit El Salvador and we want to party with them! We hope we can make a party that personifies bitcoin’s true attributes, and we will humbly work until the party is incredible. Nothing is perfect, but it’s sure one hell of a ride being able to meet Bitcoiners for the halving in the country that started this wildfire. See you in El Salvador April 3-5, 2024 🎉
